Back to school! So many new friends and new activities. Lots of smiles!! Way to start the year, Wildcats!
PreK
Prek students love reading with Mrs. Morgan’s 2nd grade class on Fridays! Learning to read is fun for everyone!
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten students in Ms. LaGiglia and Mrs. Li’s classes used their secret codes to make their RIASEC super hero capes this week. The children will draw jobs that interest them in each hexagon as we learn about job types this year.
1st Grade
We worked on and presented All About Me T-Shirts to share our interests and family information with our classmates. Students finished their reading and math diagnostics and made name artwork to give a sense of belonging. The children rotated through stations, putting one hand behind their back, in order to use only one hand to move puzzle pieces in order to form school supply pictures. This helped to create a healthy sense of community before we get into small groups. Mrs. Peel loves these students!
2nd Grade
Second grade is creating a bond with the preschoolers. They came to our classroom, read with us, and we modeled how to read in a group. They had so much fun!
3rd Grade
3rd Graders learning about what it might be like to be a forester as part of our World of Work curriculum. They learned about a career in forestry, how to tell if a tree is healthy. The students went outside to investigate some of the trees on our school’s property.
4th Grade
Fourth grade is digging into the new ELA curriculum by writing about why it’s important to know about natural disasters.
5th Grade
5th grade used lines of latitude and longitude to fill their treasure chests with gold! Learning is Fun!
STEM
This week in STEM the 4th graders took on a STEM challenge. The goal was to make the tallest tower they could using 50 cups. They had to use exactly all 50 cups. This lesson was used to introduce students to the design process that we use in STEM.
This week in STEM the 2nd graders tested some reactions involving milk, food coloring, and soap. Students were able to use inquiry to see how soap would affect a mixture of milk and food coloring. This lesson was used to introduce students to the inquiry process that we use in STEM.
