We are gearing up for March Madness in PE!! Each class in grades 3-5 have been split into teams. We’ve talked about different skills and drills associated with the game of basketball. In the next few weeks each class will battle it out in a tournament to find out who will take home the HES March Madness trophy!

The last couple of weeks in PE have been spent learning how to play floor hockey and using our new scooters!! Grades 3-5 have learned about the game of floor hockey, its rules, and its origins. Each grade has gotten to battle it out against their classmates in some friendly competitions! This game is always a class favorite!

We were gifted some newer, safer scooters from the ESC building and the kids LOVE them! Such a fun way to move our bodies and explore our limitations! These will be enjoyed for years to come!

This week in PE we worked on teamwork and strategy to “cross the river” in this cooperative game! This kids had a blast and learned how to work together!

We also celebrated the 50th day of school by dancing, bowling and using hula hoops while grooving to some 1950s music!!

This week in PE we played Flag Tag! A game of speed, agility, and strategy! The kids loved it and worked up quite a sweat trying to be the last one standing!!

This week in PE we enjoyed a lot of time outside in the cooler weather. In the gym we explored several different tag games including rock-paper-scissors dodgeball!

This week we played capture the flag, funnel ball, and parachute. First graders competed in Olympic style games to continue their classroom Olympics discussion!
