3)  In math, we learned about putting objects into groups of 10 to help us count higher numbers better.

3)  We wrote about what we like to play with when we’re together with our friends.

4)  We discussed what groups we belong to in our community in social studies.

5)  We celebrated different customs before our Harvest Party!  🙂

Second Grade

Happy Halloween week! We’re in for a treat as we blend spooky fun with important learning. This week, we’re diving into the world of story elements and sharpening our math skills—all while enjoying the Halloween spirit!  In our reading corner, we’re uncovering the magic of storytelling.

  • Characters: Who’s in the story? We’ll talk about the fun and spooky characters we meet.
  • Setting: Where does the story happen? Is it a haunted house or a pumpkin patch?
  • Problem and Solution: What challenges do our characters face, and how do they solve them?

Third Grade

Third graders visited the Columbus Airport.  They got to help build a plane go inside a Fairchild C119 aka the flying boxcar.

Fourth Grade

Fourth grade got into the Halloween spirit as they read a spooky story called “The Whispering House.” To make it even spookier, they read with flashlights in the darkened classroom.

Fifth Grade

Fifth graders did a STEM project in social studies last week! They researched a region of the United States and worked with a partner to develop a business plan that would be profitable in their area keeping in mind the location, geography, climate and resources of their region. They then presented their product to the class! We had ski lodges, MRE factories, splash parks, restaurants, fishing charters, and more!

STEM

5th grade had a fun week exploring different types of matter and reactions. Student made a substance that seemed to be both a solid and a liquid called oobleck. They also got to witness a liquid being poured on to a solid which made a gas. Students also got to experience making elephant toothpaste which involves a foamy reaction that looks like large toothpaste. Students are learning how matter can take many forms and how knowing the properties can help us in testing different materials and substances for real world use.

4th graders did some amazing things with energy this week. They learned about different forms of energy such as solar, heat, mechanical, kinetic, and acidic energy. They also learned more about energy transformation. Students also were able to use energy from potatoes. Yes, that’s right, I said potatoes. Students were able to light up an LED light using potatoes.
