Students Compete and Earn High Honors at ISSMA

Several BCHS students perform for ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble on Saturday, February 8.

For context, these students worked on music in ensembles or a solo that was outside of what we do in class, and performed it for a judge,  receiving a rating and comments. They all represented Brown County well today.

Several students performed in group one, which is the hardest level of music. Students who perform in group 1 and receive a gold rating are eligible to take that solo and go and perform at the state level.

Six of the competing events qualified for state.  Congratulations! All of them did a wonderful job.

Those qualifying for state include: Natasha Robertson (percussion), Jayce Riggle (trombone), Alayna Jacobus (French horn), Levi Phillips (trumpet), Owen East (trombone), and the Percussion Ensemble (Cadence Cox, Alex Foster, Rosalyn McGrayel, Cohen Farmer, Xavier Himebaugh, Natasha Robertson ,Jayce Riggle, and Alayna Jacobus).

Valentine’s Messages

Students received a message of encouragement from their teachers this week for Valentine’s Day. Each student received a heart shaped message on their locker. Shout out to our registrar Mrs. Sarah Hawley for arranging this.

Teacher-Student Duo Traveling to Philadelphia to Explore History and Civics

Genevieve Laguna and Mrs. Emily Lewellen have been selected to be a part of the Young People’s Continental Congress through National History Day and Carpenter’s Hall. They applied to this program last fall and were chosen. Congratulations!

They will spend the next couple of months learning about the Continental Congress and in will travel to Philadelphia in July with 27 other teacher-student teams from across the US to study history and civics.

What an amazing opportunity and an incredible recognition of the talent of this student-teacher duo!

Smash Burgers = Smashing Success

The BCHS Cafeteria Lunch Crew showcased some of the fresh ground beef they get from Fischer Farms last Thursday, 2/6.

They hosted a Smash Burger day which was a huge hit with the kids!  Be on the lookout for some new menu items featuring this awesome, and in this case locally sourced, food we are getting!

Thanks to the amazing team of cafeteria staff that work hard everyday to serve our students and staff.
