BCHS Band Advances to ISSMA Class Finals

From band director, Mr. Matt Finley, “I am proud to announce that the Brown County High School Marching Eagles performed excellently at ISSMA Scholastic class prelims at Whiteland High School. The band ended up placing third out of 10 in their class and also received a rating of gold. 

“Additionally, we placed well enough that we qualified for one of the top 16 spots for us to perform at ISSMA Scholastic at Class Finals on October 19th at Franklin Central High School. 

“This is a huge moment, we’ve never qualified to go to Finals before, and the kids have been working really hard. We’re excited to be able to represent Brown County on a statewide level.”

Best of luck to the Marching Eagles on this Saturday at Finals and congratulations on an amazing season!

Miller Strides to All-Conference Honors

In the Western Indiana Conference Cross Country Championship meet Izzy Miller finished in 14th place. Her performance earned All-Conference honors for Miller.

Congratulations to Izzy for such an outstanding achievement!

BCHS Student Internships

There are currently four BCHS interns and two apprentices working around the community. These students range in age from sophomores to seniors and spend part of each day learning career skills at a local worksite. These placements align with each students’ postsecondary goals, and they had to apply and interview to participate in the program. We are very thankful for the businesses and organizations who have stepped up to give students this opportunity, including Parks & Recreation, Lady for Land Real Estate, Chartwell’s, Mainstream Fiber, Brown County Title, and Brown County Schools TEDx. 

Medical Simulations with BCHS Biomedical Science

Seniors in the BCHS Biomedical Science program attended a field trip to Columbus Regional Hospital this week. These students are beginning a project in which they are redesigning an emergency department to be more efficient. They toured the CRH emergency department to understand how emergency medicine works in the real world. Additionally, medical professionals at CRH led students through a simulated open heart surgery in which students took on roles such as surgeon, RN first assist, anesthesiologist, and various other roles.
