Week of January 5, 2026

Preschool

This week in Preschool we started a study of arctic animals. We’ve talked about where they live, what they eat, and why they need camouflage!

Kindergarten

Kindergarten students use “snowballs” to practice one to one correspondence, counting, and to solve addition problems.

First Grade

We’ve had a great first week back. We enjoyed unseasonably warm weather and have been so busy practicing spelling words using a spin the wheel, or disco ball in our case, and making fact families.

Mrs. Platt’s first graders started jobs in the classroom this semester. The students are super excited to have responsibilities in the classroom. The students will switch jobs each week.

Second Grade

Second grade started 2026 with choosing a word to focus on this year. Some of the words students chose were kind, helpful, respectful, responsible, and nice.

Third Grade

Happy New Year! Our class has had a fantastic first week back at school. I am incredibly proud of them! In Social Studies this week, Miss Thomas’ 3rd grade class learned about timelines and how they are used to organize information in chronological order. We created a “human” timeline and then made our own timelines focused on events in Indiana.

Third graders mastering their division word problems.

Fourth Grade

Creating vocabulary cards to commit to memory the meaning of this week’s vocabulary selection terms to help us be successful on the quiz!

Fifth Grade

5th graders had fun researching careers and seeing how their RIASEC scores matched up with their career choices!
