Rainy days call for cloud dough! 

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we are learning about attributes. We have been  sorting and grouping students, foods, shoes, and toys.

First Grade

First graders have been busy working on making complete sentences and telling what they are grateful for. We’ve also been doing some really fun brain break dances.

Tuesday, November 18 was the 67th day of school. In first grade, we did a few fun activities with the number 67.  Students got to find and color all the 67’s they could find in the picture.  They also did an activity where they drew 67 different shapes in little boxes. This was just a fun way to celebrate the day quietly. 

Second Grade

Second grade started their Macys Day Parade STEM lesson this week. The students took it one step further and took their designs to Scratch Jr. where they created their float and coded it to move as if in the parade. 

Third Grade

Third graders learning about timelines in social studies. First we made a human timeline of events in Indiana history, then students got creative and made their own timelines of these events. 

Fourth Grade

Full stem ahead for fourth and fifth grade students this week. We had an awesome pop over recipe experiencing learning about chemical and physical changes in the fifth grade. Fourth grade is going to plan a turkey in disguise where we learn how to write a persuasive essay along with learning what types of disguises turkeys might employ so as to not be eaten during our Thanksgiving meal.

Fifth Grade

Who knew writing could be so fun? These fifth grade girls were spotted after school  in TedEd Club! Tune in in May to hear their talks!

STEM

Students in first grade learning about sound during our sound stations. One of the favorite stations what when they were able to take a vibrating tuning fork and place in water to watch the water vibrate. That station made quite a splash.

Our 4th graders are working on windmill prototypes. They must work in the wind and must not fall over. This means they must make them saturday and make them light enough for the wind to move.

STEM Student of the Week: Reggie Bjorndal

Reggie works hard and can always be found following expectations. He loves STEM and exploring many different STEM related topics. He is also always willing to help others. He is a great example to his classmates. Congratulations Reggie!
