Week of March 23, 2026

This week in Preschool students studied recycling, Spring weather, and worked on teamwork. Keeping our Earth clean by working together is so important. 💙

Kindergarten is enjoying themselves while camping in the dramatic play center

Ah, spring! Finally! First graders sure enjoyed the nice weather this week.

Mrs. Platt’s first-graders have started writing in their journals this week. They get to write about what’s on their mind, something they did over the weekend, or even a sports event they might have played in. The students are really enjoying our journal time each day. They are using good details and even adding pictures if time allows.

Second grade continues our measurement unit in Math. We are learning about measuring in centimeters and meters. Students measured their school supplies using centimeters on a ruler!

Students finally got to publish and display their informational writing. They put a lot of work into this project.

On our first day back from Spring Break, we celebrated our Quarter 3 party with a special monkey theme! We did a “Build-a-Monkey” writing activity where students drew and wrote about their own monkey. We also worked on equivalent fractions with a monkey twist and ended the day playing some classic monkey games like “Pin the Tail on the Monkey” and “Barrel of Monkeys”. Each quarter party is a celebration of hard work and good behavior in our specials classes, STEM, and the hallways. It was bananas, but it was a lot of fun!

Van Buren 4th graders study for their next science test using Kahoot! They love to use technology in class!

Students were so excited to receive their books and prizes from the Book Blast! Thank you to everyone that participated! Every single child received a book!

his week 3rd graders were trying to solve a real world problem by trying to design a house that would stay safe in a tornado. They tested them using a wind maker.

1st Graders learned about shadows and how they are made. They also learned how shadows move even when an object is still. They drew their shadows and then later saw that they had moved due to the position of the sun.

STEM Student of the Week: Parker Brown

Parker is always engaged in any STEM activities/lesson he is a part of. He is inquisitive and loves to seek answers to questions. He can always be found following expectations and doing his personal best. Congratulations Parker!
