The Marching Eagles competed at state, finishing as the 12th best band in the state in their division. See the picture below from the competition as well as pictures from this school year’s season.

AP Government Students Race to Learn About Federalism

AP Government and Politics students in Mrs. Emily Lewellen’s class completed the Amazing Race through Brown County High School, where they had to find evidence of Federalism throughout our school. As they raced through the school, they were guided by clues that led them to areas impacted by local, state, or federal law. Students had to complete the challenges by taking photo evidence and then determine what level of government dictated that particular law or right.

The Federal government runs the school lunch program and sets nutritional standards for it. Students had to track down a member of our cafeteria staff and take a picture with them. 

The State government sets standards for attendance. If you are reporting an absence from school, you call the front office. Students had to take a picture with either Mrs. Snyder or Mrs. Bowden. 

Local and State governments set standards for school rules. Students needed to find one individual who enforces these rules and take a picture with them.  

The Federal government established the Americans with Disabilities Act which sets standards for public buildings, including requiring accessible parking spots. Students needed to take a picture in one of our handicap parking spaces.  

Indiana law requires all public school buildings to have an AED machine. Students needed to find one of these machines and take a picture with it.

The Americans with Disabilities Act established by the Federal government requires that water fountains in public buildings be at different heights. Students needed to take a picture with the fountains.
