Honors Art is a class at BCMS where 8th-grade artists grow their art skills and learn techniques normally found in a high school setting, by passing the class they also earn a high school credit. The students in Honors Art vary in their styles and medium of choice but they all are talented, work hard, and push themselves to try new things. Over the past few weeks, this class has worked on a printmaking technique called reduction linocuts. This technique uses a singular block and carving tools to create multiple layers, with each new layer comes a different color, and a different portion of the block is carved away. It is a tricky style of printmaking and takes a lot of focus and preparation but the Honors Art students were up for the task. Vivi Clephane is one Honors Art student who said this project was enjoyable. Even though the beginning stages were difficult, once she understood the concept of layering the prints she felt confident and was excited to create her design.

Bristol Bryenton talked about her nervousness at the beginning of the project, but once she figured out her layers she was ready to get the prints done and it was difficult to be patient because she was excited to see how her prints would turn out.
