Week of March 31, 2025

PreK

This week in Preschool we did a study of Insects. We learned about ants, crickets, bees, moths and lady bugs. Students studied the parts of an insect, what they eat, how they make their homes, and how they help our world.

Kindergarten

This week we worked on building “ten and” numbers using our classmates to fill our giant 20 frame on the floor.

First Grade

In first grade this week we:

1)  Learned more about the genre, folk tales.

2)  Learned about how to make a 10 in math and got better at our timed tests.

3)  Wrote using specific words to describe events in writing.

4)  Learned about morals or life lessons in reading.

5)  Learned more about suffixes in phonics.

6)  Designed our field trip t-shirts!  🙂

Second Grade

Second grade has been busy for the last few days writing their first poem. All the students really enjoyed putting their own thoughts and words into their own Diamanté Poem. All the students enjoy seeing their work hang on the bulletin board in the hallway for everyone to see.

Third Grade

Thanks to widespread power outages, Mrs.Wagers had to bring her newborn chicks to school so they would stay warm. Third graders had so much fun watching and cuddling them.

Fourth Grade

Fourth graders enjoyed stories from Mrs. Sechler, worked with partners to complete a vocabulary assignment, made some awesome chalk pictures, passed math levels, and more! Was it really a short week?? 😊

Fifth Grade

Just because you’re the oldest in the building doesn’t mean you couldn’t use storytime every once in a while. Our kiddos just soak up these mystical tales told to them by the wondrous Martha.

STEM

In multiple grades, students earned a free Spherobot day. Students were given a class period to free play with spherobots. They were allowed to maneuver the bots through teacher made obstacle courses and student made courses as well. Students learned about precision in robotic movements. Students who earned this day were students who showed great behavior for the month of March.

This week kindergarten spent time learning about sounds and how sounds are made from vibrations. These creative imagineers were able to see how sounds were made for cartoons and were to make their own sounds for cartoons. Students also worked together as a class to make the sounds of a storm, including wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. Students learned that all sound comes from vibration.

STEM Student of The Week – Braylon Zavela

Braylon did such a fantastic job this week. He mastered every single Spherobot obstacle course. He also went undefeated in Sphero races. Braylon was also an example student this week. In STEM class Braylon could always be found meeting expectations this week. He was patient, worked well with others, and always asked for permission to speak during class. Braylon was inquisitive and took part in every STEM activity this week. He asked good question and used his inquiry skills every chance he could. Congratulations Braylon.
